Terms of Service

By creating an account, signing in, starting a trial, purchasing a subscription, or using Underline, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you use Underline on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.

Underline lets you capture notes, create tags and topics, underline important phrases as signals, search your content, build visual canvases, export supported data, and optionally request AI-assisted organization. Features may differ by plan and may change as the product develops.

You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for protecting access to your account. Underline currently supports email/password authentication and may support third-party sign-in providers such as Google or Apple where configured. You must promptly notify us if you believe your account has been compromised.

You retain ownership of notes, signals, tags, topics, canvases, imports, exports, and other content you create in Underline. You grant us the limited rights needed to host, process, transmit, display, back up, secure, and operate the Service for you. You are responsible for your content and for ensuring that you have the rights needed to store and process it in Underline.

AI features are user-triggered and may include signal extraction, tag and topic suggestions, note summaries, related-note suggestions, and note-to-map conversion. When you choose to use AI features, relevant note content may be sent to our AI provider to generate a response. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your needs. You are responsible for reviewing AI output before relying on it or saving it.

Underline may offer free and paid plans. Paid plans are billed through Stripe. Prices, plan limits, and included features are shown at checkout or on the pricing page. Trials may convert into paid subscriptions unless canceled before the trial ends. Subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. You can manage billing through the account billing flow when available. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable and credits are not provided for partial billing periods.

You agree not to misuse Underline. Prohibited conduct includes:

• violating laws, third-party rights, or privacy rights;
• uploading malware or attempting to interfere with the Service;
• probing, scanning, or bypassing security or access controls;
• using automated systems to overload or scrape the Service;
• using the Service to create, store, or distribute illegal, abusive, or harmful content;
• reselling or sublicensing the Service without written permission.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and process information. Our Security page describes current safeguards and limitations. No online service can be guaranteed perfectly secure, and you should not use Underline as the only copy of critical information.

We may update, suspend, limit, or discontinue features as the product evolves. We aim to provide a calm, reliable thinking space, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, or permanent preservation of every feature.

You may stop using Underline at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, create risk for the Service or other users, fail to pay amounts due, or use the Service unlawfully. When practical, we will provide notice before termination unless doing so would create legal, security, or operational risk.

Underline is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability, accuracy, and reliability. Underline is not legal, medical, financial, or professional advice.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Underline and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenues, data, goodwill, or business opportunities. Our aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for Underline in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim or USD $100.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify users, such as posting the updated date or providing notice in the product. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
